World Archery migrates website, digital platforms to .sport

2 Feb 2021

World Archery has moved its website and all associated digital properties from its previous .org to the new .sport domain.

The primary address of the official website is now, with the old being redirected to the new site. All of the federation’s email addresses have also changed to end with the suffix.

It’s the first step in a wider shift for archery’s global online footprint.

World Archery has partnered with the Global Association for International Sports Federations, which is driving the initiative, to make .sport addresses available to all national member associations and other archery organisations across more than 25 languages. The benefits of moving to the new domain include having a website that unmistakably linked with the sports ecosystem, a strong identity for search engine optimisation and a stable chain of ownership.

National federations should contact the office to register interest in acquiring a .sport domain.

Alongside the switch to the new suffix, the website platform has been updated and much of the static content refreshed. The last major update was done in 2015. More new features will be added in the lead-up to the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen said: “Archery might be one of the oldest sports in existence but World Archery always embraces the future when there is an opportunity to evolve our digital ecosystem and better engage with fans.”

The .sport domain unites sports organisations a single trustworthy identity, the need for which is becoming ever more important on the internet, making it easier for the public to connect with trustworthy content online. We look forward to welcoming our national federations to the .sport umbrella, further strengthening archery’s digital offering in localised languages and regions.
